I like these boots. They're good for typical winter days when there's some snow on the ground and the temperature is in the 20s to 30s. I walked around in windy 15 degree weather with thick wool socks in these boots. While my feet were kept dry and weren't freezing, after about 10 to 15 minutes my toes began to get a little cold, which I would say is still really good, especially since my toes get cold in almost any weather due to poor blood circulation. Now these are not the boots that have the built-in cleats. Rubber cleats come with these boots, and let me tell you, it is EXTREMELY difficult to put them on the shoes. My fingernails and fingers were scraped and bloody after about 40 minutes of wrestling with the shoes. I couldn't even test the cleats on ice because as soon as I stepped onto a linoleum floor in my building, I began to slip - these cleats are very slippery on smooth surfaces. I ended up tossing them out.The boots themselves are not slip-proof on ice and slush. So these are not the boots you want if your aim is to walk across giant sheets of solid ice or icy slush. This is not to say that they MAKE you slip; they don't. But if you're walking quickly and not paying attention to the ground, you can slip, but I figure this goes for almost any boot you wear no matter what. These boots are great if you want to stay warm and dry as you tread through piles of snow and in the rain. They're very comfortable too! I wear women's size 10 in regular shoes, and these boots in size 10 fit just right with plenty of room for thick wool socks. So the deducted star is for the awful cleats. Otherwise, good, solid winter boots.I got these because I LOVE my metro boot but wanted it without the permanent buggrip to wear as an 'everyday' winter boot but the metro style no longer comes in bugweb. I like these because they are as close to a sneaker-boot as I have found - feels like an actual shoe with some amount of support as opposed to ill-fitting slab of rubber as some winter boots feel. The ankle is not stiff and I can actually walk around the City in these. With a thick sock, they work for my narrow heel but med-wide forefoot, and they have the optional bugweb for active precipitation or snow/ice that hasn't been cleared, BUT - check your bug web. I ordered boot size 9.5. The BugWeb that came with it says US size 8-9.5, but there is NO WAY to get this BugWeb to go over this boot. NONE. Unstretched, it only comes @ midway down the sole by the arch. It could probably fit if there was a heavy-duty tool to stretch it and maneuver it, but with bare hands, NO WAY. I have foot problems (neuroma/arthritis) so there's practically nothing I can truly stand on all day, but someone else probably could and this is about as close as I come, esp for a winter boot. Also, these are warm considering their size and that they aren't bulky. Sleeker look than most functional winter boots. I wear them with alpaca socks.I've been researching boots for months and I finally ordered these ones after returned 5 other pairs including keens and kamik. I just received these boots and I have to say I am extremely happy that I chose to take a chance on these despite the small amount of reviews. First they look great! They are lightweight so you don"t feel like you are dragging weights on the bottom of your feet as you walk. They seem well insulated for normal winter days but not too stuffy. Also they are flexible and fit like a glove. Honestly they really do feel like a sneaker. I read the others reviews regarding the studs that come with the boots so I was a bit skeptical about them but once I figured out how to put them on properly I thought they were pretty neat. They fit perfectly into the grooves of the boot. My studs said they fit a 6-7.5 and the boots I ordered are an 8.5 and somehow they still managed to fit just fine. Just incase for anyone else trying to figure out the studs, the small tab that says icebug goes on the back of the boot. Start with putting the front on first though and everything will fall into place with a little elbow grease :) great boots I can't wait to wear them this winter!! Also, I purchased these boots for doing errands not for snow playing as they are not waterproof. These are great winter boots, however, they DO NOT have the carbide studs (BuGrip) as in the description. The pictures show the lug soles accurately. The boots are very light weight and warm, They are great on snow and not bad on the ice. They have alot of flex and walk more like a shoe than a winter boot. I have a lot of ankle problems and the running shoe foot bed is perfect for me. I have pretty large calves and there is plenty of room for my leg and my tapered jeans. Tried the metro boot with the bugrip sole and found them to be very stiff and they rubbed around the top, so I'm sticking with these. They are a bit on the expensive side but are really a good walking-the-dog boot.Interesting concept with a neoprene-like outer. I found the shin part of these to be too stiff, though. I couldn't really tighten up the laces enough to get the tightness I needed in the ankle/shin area and felt like my foot slipped around too much. I thought an actual tongue would have been better. This may work better for someone who is a little thicker through the ankles/shins.Had to be returned, as this was not the model we wanted. Could have been our fault, but bought the same model number from Online Shoes, and it came with the built in ice cleats. The one here had the stretch on type of cleats. If that is what you want, then these are good boots. It needs to be made clearer in the advertisement as to what the cleat situation is.Wanted to keep these boots so badly. They are really good looking fit great around the foot bed but the ankle area is so tight. It's made for people with wide feet and tiny ankles. 5 stars for great looking 1 stars for fit. Going back :(.The item description on the item page is for the Icebug Cortina-L2 Bugbu, which has a different sole compound and built in carbide tips for ice traction. This item is the standard Icebug Cortina-L. See the Icebug company website for verification.I researched a lot of information on these boots. They seemed well thought out and perfect for the outdoor enthusiast. While a bit pricey, I thought it was worth it to pay more upfront for the quality and durability. HOWEVER these boots did not last at all. They were not worn often or in very extreme conditions. They developed two tears in the foot material while the boot looked brand new. When I contacted ICEBUG they said they only had a one year warranty and that I had to contact the place where I bought them. They do not stand behind their product at all. Buyer beware- way over priced for the quality and customer service. I gave one star because I really do love the look of these bootsganz federleicht, so bequem, so warm, aber bitte nicht durch dreck gehen, der stoff saugt sofort auf und man muß auswaschen, wenn man weiße stiefel haben möchte, farbe weicht ab zur abbildung, sind dunkler
